The Raylettes was een band van zanger/gitarist Rolf Pichel. Ooit begonnen als zanger Roy Michaels bij Electric Johnny & his Skyrockets. In Duitsland bij The Strangers ging hij zich Shorty Miller noemen. Met The Raylettes (als The Raylads) nam hij in 1963 een "slop" single op voor het Duitse Vogue label. Tevens nam hij in 1964 nog enkele solo nummers op. Theo Berg was medio 1963 de vervanger van sologitarist Wim Dubois.

In 1963 wisselden The Raylettes en The Black Magic tijdelijk van personeel en werd er opgetreden onder de naam The Hawks.

In 1964 ging Shorty Miller bij The Black Dynamites spelen. Na hun vertrek naar Spanje bleef hij in Duitsland achter en maakte nog enkele solo opnamen met begeleiding van de Jacky Bensberg Band voor Ariola. Ca. 1970 werd Shorty Miller weer ingelijfd in de rangen van Los Indonesios (The Black Dynamites).
